Bewildering Stories welcomes...
E. B. Fischadler
E. B. is an engineer who has a background in missiles and medical research. He has previously published short stories.
“Basted Son” tells the story of Frankenstein’s monster from the monster’s point of view. No need for a spoiler alert: the first sentence of the story tells you what it’s about!
The human — or human construct — interest in the story is Victor Frenchstone’s perplexity at his physical condition. He seems to be oddly stitched together and drips mechanical parts like dandruff, but he has a colossal identity crisis and no idea how he got to be the way he is. Attempts to determine his nature lead him to the wrong department; he should have gone to English Literature. Nonetheless, it’s Victor’s cheerful equanimity that wins the day.
