Bewildering Stories welcomes...

Leah Erickson

Leah has published fiction extensively in print and on line. She has a novel scheduled for publication this fall.

House of Clouds” relies on a narrative device frequently used in “generation ship” and other science fiction stories: cryonic suspension, i.e. “frozen sleep.” The result is a form of time travel, where the suspended person is resuscitated in the future.

“House of Clouds” deals with the consequences. What if Patty, who dies of a drug overdose, is revived years later and is reclaimed by her now aged husband Howard? He’s changed, of course. But will Patty help him reclaim his first love? Will she be the same as before? Intriguing questions, ones that Howard doesn’t think to ask.

Patty literally time-travels into the future; Howard time-travels virtually into the past. Such sentimental journeys can be problematic. We already have a couple of time-travel stories that say you can visit the past, but if you change the past, you can’t come back.

Leah Erickson’s bio sketch can be found here.

Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Leah. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
