Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Bill Prindle
Bill says he’s a fan of stories of horror and the supernatural, ones that cause disquiet about “things that go bump in the night.”
“Cogito, ergo Sim sum” is one of the rare successful stories about a video game. It’s told from the point of view of a character in the game, and it raises the question: What if we, too, are characters in a game?
“Cogito...” is not a horror story, it’s a modern conte philosophique. On the surface, the story is not one to cause readers to hide under the bed, but a recent cosmological supposition that the entire universe may be a hologram may make readers check whether they have a clear path to the front door. What if a cosmic player tires of the “game” and hits the Reset button?
