“Colorblind Chameleon” treats readers to a very unusual kind of story. The plot isn’t unusual: it’s “boy meets girl” or, in this case, Emery realizes he needs Leona. Rather, it’s Emery’s visual handicap that takes us out of the ordinary; he has difficulty seeing in certain wavelengths of light. Readers see the setting and action from Emery’s point of view. The result will disconcert readers who prefer that a hero be “normal,” but others will be fascinated.
