Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Susan Bass Marcus
Susan has multiple advanced degrees in the humanities and has spent most of her career writing for work or performance in museum education and puppet theatre. She has now turned to writing short stories and novels. A fantasy novel of hers was released in November 2015.
“Pieces of Stars” will surely touch readers by its end of life story. It brings to life the voice of Franny, an old lady who recounts matter-of-factly the suffering and indignities she experiences under palliative care in a hospice.
The story does not overstep Bewildering Stories’ “dead narrator“ guideline, because the final section shifts the point of view to the third person. One hopes that Franny appreciates the efforts her son and others have made on her behalf. And if Franny’s vision is somehow transmitted to her son, well, what else could he see?
