Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Marian L. Thorpe
Marian lives in Canada for most of the year and in England, for the rest, with her husband and two cats. Her short stories tend to be modern urban fantasies; her novels are historical fantasy for young adults and older. Her novels in her Emipire’s Legacy series centre on Britannia in the later years of the Roman Empire and afterwards. Marian also writes lyric nature poetry.
“In an Absent Dream” is what we informally call a “mood piece.” The narrator, Claire, is mostly disengaged from others and ordinary life except for her cat, which she assiduously cares for. A recurrent dream leads her to a mysterious bridge, apparently to another world. Claire’s task is to muster the courage to cross it.
