You Can Only Dream So Much

I sometimes fall asleep at conventions
not because I’m bored but
because somewhere during a weekend
of filling our bellies with beer
and our minds with strange thoughts
exhaustion takes over.

It’s as if you can only dream so much
while awake, and you have to
fall asleep
to finish the job.
