Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Demetrios Matsakis
Demetrios is Chief Scientist for Time Services at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. He began his scientific career at U.C. Berkeley, where he adapted a radio interferometer to analyze the composition of dust clouds where stars are born. His first job was observing quasars in order to measure irregularities in the Earth’s rotation. He later became director of the deaprtment that sets time for GPS. He has published extensively in his professional work.
Demetrios says that writing The Sun-Lovers was more fun than publishing scientific papers. Which is quite understandable: the story presents Aurora with a very pleasant dilemma. Whom does she love more: Max, the equation solver, or John the wise? When a latter-day personfication of the ancient god Helios sends messages, Aurora’s dilemma is resolved.
