Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Dennis Mombauer
Dennis is from Germany and is currently living in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He’s a freelance writer and co-publisher of a magazine for experimentalism. He has published in various journals and anthologies and has a novel to his credit.
“The Eidolic Void” celebrates the Halloween season with a kind of interstellar “trick or treat” prank. The skeletal sketch of a story challenges the reader to ask — and, perhaps, propose answers to — questions such as: Why are Fenton and the other “recruits” sent to a military outpost that seems to function as a prison camp? Who are the “veterans,” who seem to be in charge and are as mysterious as the “enemy.,” who appears only as contradictory data on sensor screens?
The story is quite unconventional. It will very likely lead readers to conclude that they, like Fenton, have been “recruited” to a mysterious outpost from which there is no escape.
