Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Subodhana Wijeyeratne
Subodhana is a native of the UK and has also lived in the Soviet Union, her family’s original homeland of Sri Lanka and, for the last 14 years, in Japan. She has held positions at her university in the UK and been working on an advanced degree in Japanese history at a university in the U.S. A collection of Subodhana’s short stories appeared last year. Her early literary influences were the classics of science fiction, and she has been following other famous authors in the genre since then.
“They Meet in the Wall” is set in a world that eerily resembles, in outlfine form, that of Dennis Mombauer’s “Eidolic Void,” also in this issue. But in Subodhana’s story, Neiva is one of the “veterans,” in effect an official in a dystopian prison society. But Vinay, the lover she was destined to have in a parallel universe, somehow seeks her out. The result is an enthralling story of love in a world that has no place for it.
