Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Janel Brubaker
Janel has degrees in English and Creative Writing. She was managing editor of a literary journal for more than a year. Her prose fiction has been published widely.
The Cavern of Serpents begins in this issue and will conclude with the fifth chapter. It will give readers a lot to think and talk about. Phoebe and Medusa are borrowed from ancient Greek and Roman mythology but are updated to tell a modern feminist story in a cultural setting that is completely different from that of the original characters.
However, the readers are forewarned: the prologue sets out the rules in advance. The result is a powerful account of women’s feelings about being oppressed not so much for what they do as for what they are.
