Portrait of a Woman

by Donna Dallas

I am, as usual, undone.
A little longer, maybe,
And I’ll have my face together.
They say the Mona Lisa was
Never really quite finished,
The portrait of a woman
Who never quite smiled,
Less than a smile and more
Beyond a smile.
Find the right lighting,
The right clothes,
I never know what to put on
For which occasion.
And I always tell myself:
Next time I will have it all
Down pat,
Complete.
Only to come undone again.
