Birdless

The birds have left
Afghanistan, Syria, Gaza,
many other countries,
constant explosions traumatic,
destruction of habitat
preventing nesting,
so they perished,
or moved on
until the next place
detonates,
strewing feathers everywhere,
fragile flyers
not as valued as children,
children not valued enough
to stop the wars.
