The Blame the Fame Game

by LindaAnn LoSchiavo

Dreaming of fame, she visited the gods.

Jove starred her in a Broadway musical.
Despite her rave reviews, fate intervened
When a non-Equity beam crushed her skull.

Grape-loving Bacchus planted her bare feet
Inside a barrel. Her intense bouquet
Drew praise till fire destroyed the winery.

Apollo made her be a laurel tree.
Transported to the White House garden, she
Was widely photographed, threw serious
Shade at Republicans. They chopped her down.

Then she awoke to ominous ravens
Of yore, reciting Poe forevermore.
