My Wings

by Erica Evans

I feel the cold wind rush in my face.
I taste the rain that falls from the sky.
I see no land from where I am, but it’s okay,
For I know I’m not going to fall.

I see the lightning strike the clouds,
And I hear the thunder along with it.
I smell the heat from the thunder,
But even though I’m trapped in a thunderstorm,
I feel I’m going to make it out alive.
