Emma lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan and New York City. She works in the field of cancer research. She has published significantly, and her first novel appeared last year.

“Last Boat to Frioul” starts out in a realistic mode as a kind of coming of age story where a student-age girl goes touring in southern France. Readers may be surprised by its plot twist and genre-shift, but female and male readers alike will surely understand its moral: to beware of superficial beauty.
