Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...
Charles C. Parsons
Charles Parsons lives with his family and near his grandchildren in Washington, D.C. He emphasizes “peacefully,” because he has retired from a 50-year career as a lawyer in which he participated in over four hundred personal-injury trials. He explains in his bio why the courtroom can be an inexhaustible fountain of stories and characters. Fans of such classic TV series as Perry Mason will feel quite at home.
“The Status Quo Ante” will impress readers with its realism. Not only does the story take us into the realm of jurisprudence and the actual practice of law, it shows very believable characters shaping the drama.
The law can, at best, restore young Laura’s defrauded property and even wreak punitive damages on one of the perpetrators. But the plaintiff, Laura, has made a terrible mistake in thinking pridefully that she had aced out her friends by winning the affections of a crook. Laura’s counsel, Mr. Chance, can help get Laura’s automobile and money back, but correcting character flaws is beyond both him and the law.
