Challenge 992

Time and Time Again

  1. In Gary Inbinder’s The Lawyer’s Files:

    1. Who is the prime suspect in the attack on Max Niemand?
    2. The “private eye” genre traditionally requires that the detective be ambushed at some point. Can you recall examples where the surprise consists in something other than bludgeoning?
  2. In Quintin Snell’s The Long Winter Time: The story ends with a promise of “rebuilding” at the end of the winter caused by the rogue comet. Why might it seem equally likely that Shet and Genset will continue building time machines and sending Shet into the past, to repeat an endless cycle?

  3. In Jack Bragen’s The Proposal of Ethan the E.T.: Would Stuart reject Ethan’s proposal if someone else were to be made the object of experimentation?

  4. In Ana Teresa Pereira’s A Firefly Hour: Why does the girl cross the street to the house where someone appears to be hiding and watching her? When does she do it? Is her partner aware of her transition?

  5. In Charles C. Cole’s Claudia Is Somebody: What emotion does Claudia appear to be expressing after being told she’s an angel? How else might she react without disproving Dr. Dixon’s revelation?
