Icelandic Lava

by Richard Ong

This photo of a lava field in Eldhraun, Iceland was taken using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ3 (F-stop = 3.3; Exposure = 1/100 sec). This lava field was originally created in 1783 by basaltic magma that rose up from underground through a surface fissure. Over time, this field was saturated with a thick blanket of moss, a common feature in Icelandic landscape.
