Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Joel Gn
No mysteries up front: Joel explains that his name is pronounced like “yin” or “yen” in the common Vietnamese name “Nguyen” and that it may be Chinese in origin. Joel is currently a sailor in the Singaporean navy and has had the good fortune to be able to travel widely.
Joel explains that science fiction is popular in Singapore only in its more popular and rudimentary aspects. Joel has gone far more deeply into the genre and especially appreciates its philosophical content, where he finds parables for our time. And that insight deserves high praise: Joel, welcome to the 18th century! And even earlier: you may enjoy Cyrano’s The Other World.
Thank you for “Mindfield,” Joel. It’s fascinating from the point of view of technology, and it is also rather unsettling in what it implies about memory and reality.
Joel’s biographical sketch can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Joel. We hope to hear from you again soon and often.
