The Limits To Growth
Just got a copy of "On Spec" magazine, a small press SF magazine from Canada. It is a quarterly publication that evidently has been around for 16 years. It is a decent (and occasionally indecent) little magazine, and is a volunteer effort from "The Copper Pig Writers Society" with funding from a bunch of Canadian Arts Sponsors. Heavy sigh. Many of the stories in BWS are comparable with the stories in "On Spec". Only they can pay. Now, combine that with ProjectPulp from http://www.projectpulp.com and you see a recipe for disaster. Oh wait, perhaps that isn't the direction my mind should be going...
We're looking at having some our readers glean the best stories of the past several years, for perhaps a "Year One" anthology and a "Year Two" anthology. At present, they would just be available as a set of linked html files, perhaps even on CD for a small fee. But I'm going to be chatting with several small press publishers, and who knows, perhaps we'll have an anthology in realio-trulio paper. Something that I devoutly wish. So, are there limits to our growth? We'll just have to see.
