Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Robert L. Sellers Jr.
It feels a little strange to “welcome” Bob Sellers to Bewildering Stories. We’ve as much correspondence with him as any veteran author, and to good purpose: beginning with “Posse,” in this issue, Bob begins a series of “Weird Wild West” stories that will keep everyone coming back for the rest of the summer to frontier-town treats of fast cards and marked women (or is the other way around?).
You wouldn’t expect stories full of hot lead and fantastical creatures from someone who hails from northern Wisconsin and now lives in Minnesota. And especially someone who’s always been a fan of the Vikings football team and Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, where “Norwegian bachelor farmers” are pillars of the population and the highlight of church socials is the cream of mushroom soup hot dish. Just remember, though: that’s the place where “all the women are strong, all the men are good-lookin’...” And it’s the same in Bob Seller’s “weird wild west.” Bob just plain likes — or is fascinated by — his own characters, and telling stories isn’t hard work for him: it’s a rip-snortin’ adventure.
Glad to join your posse, Bob! Now, let’s everybody saddle up and ride the trail.
Be sure to check out the sneak preview in Bob’s bio sketch of the Weird Wild West stories coming down the pike in future issues.
