Dragon Weather

by Christine Lucas

Air thick with the scent of embers,
The pyre that claimed your forefathers.
Seek not the trail of the firedrops.
Go hide, you said.

Stretched-out wings that shade the morning.
Low flight, high rise, wind and flamehail.
A world gone silent. Easy, now.
Dragon weather.
