Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Lauran Strait
If you’d like a list of places to submit publications, you’ll find Lauran’s bio sketch a handy resource. It contains so many links that I’m tempted to make it a supplement to our Links page. And then there are Lauran’s four novels. We might explore the possibility of excerpts.
Lauran also mentions a swimming pool. Now, as a child, I loved to go to Virginia Beach, where she works, for the sand and surf, not to mention the boardwalk, complete with its rickety roller-coaster that I’m sure Lauran has only heard about from old codgers out of a time warp or seen in the movie The Death of Ocean View Park.
In a side message, Lauran explains what “NFG” is — or rather, was. It was apparently a magazine whose title was unprintable but enjoyed great success for six issues, until its distributors took the money and ran. There’s a cautionary tale in there somewhere that Bewildering Press might heed.
“The Tooth Fairy,” in this issue, tells of a little girl’s dream of overcoming — actually, shutting up — her dysfunctional parents. The Tooth Fairy himself is a kind of Santa Claus in drag, and one wonders whether he doesn’t give the little girl more than she really bargains for.
Lauran’s bio sketch can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Lauran. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
