Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Michelle Bobier
Michelle rescued herself from a career of writing academic papers in English literature by writing literature, herself. She has published short stories, essays, and memoirs, among other things in literary journals, and has a novel currently being reviewed by publishers.
“Hero” is the story of a young boy who discovers literature. And the discovery is both figurative and literal. He finds in the basement of his family’s new home books and magazines that tell tales of heroes. The stories are of a kind that naturally appeal to a boy of about ten.
The boy also discovers the journal of an alter ego who describes much the same terrors that our young hero finds in the haunted house where he lives in emotional isolation with his hostile sisters and uncomprehending parents. But even bravery and the heroism of romantic literature may not enable him to prevail.
