Katherine lives near Denver, Colorado, where she says she can see the mountains from her rooftop. She works as a corrections nurse and has a couple of colorful pets. Among her favorite authors are some classic science fictioneers.

“Humpback Dreams” is a poem in an unusual form: it’s a modern villanelle, basically a round within a round. A ballad is to walking as a villanelle is to a square dance. And what better way to join the undersea dance of the whales!
