Fenestration

by Oonah V. Joslin

Vindauga — Wind eye.

Admitting more than light and air
inviting the eye to wander here and there
wonder at nature’s visions
ponder on acts of saints
covet goods in gaudy display.

Eagbryl — Eye-hole.

Inside, outside,
no longer speaks of
dark and light
as it used to.

Skins, paper, lead, horn, glass,
photons;
innovation
breached all barriers to
today.

These words would not exist
in a world without
windows.
