Bewildering Stories

Galena City

by Richard Ong

This remarkable crystal is called galena, a mineral of lead sulfide and an important ore of lead and silver. The image of its crystalline structure was taken at 50X magnification using a USB microscope. The resulting photo of a micro-cityscape reminds me of the cold, angular walls of the Kryptonian fortress of solitude.
