Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Margaret Karmazin
Margaret published well over ten dozen literary, fantasy and science fiction stories in literary and science fiction magazines. She also has a mystical young adult novel in circulation. She relaxes by painting and by reading and writing about the paranormal.
“Coitus Interruptus” is a dark comedy based on modern communications’ intrusion into private life. Is it science fiction? Perhaps today, but next week? Stay tuned.
The story might be longer, but if it were, would it cease to be satire and careen over the edge into apocalyptic tragedy? For example: what might be done with “passive chips,” ones that secretly transmit information? Ones that are so small they can be implanted in clothing or even on one’s body at the next security checkpoint?
And who will be flying the miniaturized drones? And who will be pulling the trigger, and why?
But “Coitus Interruptus” has an even darker implication. What will become of humanity when procreation isn’t fun any more and becomes the tiresome mechanical exercise depicted in the story? No need to ask: lights out.
